About the editor

Nick in 2021
Nicholas Gemas (sounds like jim us) acquired filmvisions.com in 2022 with plans to redevelop it into a website focused on movies, television, streaming and other pop culture topics. In addition to a blog and forthcoming podcast, filmvisions.com hosts pages related to Nick’s interests in music and voice-over production.

A native of Wichita, Kansas, Nick worked as a college instructor, corporate journalist (writer/editor) and web developer. He has worked in the popular-culture collecting community, and is a former editor of the print newsletter CineTrek, which profiled fandom relating to Star Trek in the mid- to late-1990s.

He was profiled by the University Daily Kansan (Lawrence, Kansas) in 2008 for a feature exploring the world of movie poster collecting.

Always looking for new ways to help science fiction and fantasy movies find new audiences, Nick was a financial contributor to the 2022 documentary In Search of Tomorrow.

Nick’s older movie reviews can be accessed here and here.

Outside of filmvisions.com, Nick likes to tinker with broadcasting and podcasting, play the tuba, play Tetris and work on his novel that will (likely) never be published.

He’s called north Texas home since 2018, but you can find him wandering the desert near Tucson, Arizona, for significant portions of the year.
